Indian Jewelry’s sixth and most adventurous work to date, PEEL IT sees the uncompromising Houston band venturing further into the darklands of noise, psych, dub, and experimental rock. The band remain flagbearers for the long Texas tradition of outsider rock n’ roll, a grand, precarious history spanning the 13th Floor Elevators and Red Krayola, Jandek and Butthole Surfers. Tracks like Eva Cherie see Indian Jewelry tapping into the primordial consciousness through dissonance and drone, defying easy categorization with fractured melodies, white noise, and heavy rhythmic energy.
